flowerhead

Flowerhead

For the latest scent from Stockholm-based fragrance house Byredo, Creative Director Ben Gorham has drawn inspiration from his cultural heritage with a fragrance inspired by his own imagined Indian wedding ceremony. “A lot of the work I've done in the past started off with specific references – personal memories and things associated with my background and upbringing. As I became more experienced in the craft of making a perfume the dialogue with the perfumer evolved into a common language and I was able to venture outside of these specific references and to develop a fiction,” Top: Angelica Seeds, Sicilian Lemon, Lingonberry Heart: Wild Jasmine Sambac, Dewy Tuberose, Rose Petals Base: Fresh Amber, Suede. ss14-katie-eary

SS14 Katie Eary

Rising out of the unlikely inspirations of the wilds of southern Africa, the acid house scene and the fevered imaginations of a Edinburgh football thug comes flamingo massacres, the spring/summer’14 collection from Katie Eary. Taking influence from Irvine Welsh’s seminal novel marabou stalk nightmares the collection tells the story of a hallucinatory and primitive gender war, all based on mans lustful, but hateful fascination with the beautiful flamingo. The bird that somehow seems too beautiful to live. Shop Katie Eary here

interview-le-petit-voyeur

Interview Le Petit Voyeur

We interviewed the founder and creative force behind the magazine Le Petit Voyeur Kristian Rosén. Why did you start Le Petit Voyeur? I’ve always been passionate about art, design and photography. After spending the last 12 years building my design business and working with some great clients, I reached a point where I wanted to combine my daily work with my passions. I have been a magazine-o-holic since my early teens when I produced and bought graffiti magazines. My creative interests are diverse. Le Petit Voyeur reflects that by showing work from across genres - it’s not just a magazine about photography, art or naked women. I think a photographer can be just as inspired by a cool street art piece as an image. How would you describe Le Petit Voyeur in one sentence? My creative playground. Best advice you ever got? To be loyal and always do what you believe in, even though that means that you are going to work your ass off and make sacrifices. This mindset has helped me achieve a lot and made me who I am today. Top 5 songs at the moment? Besides my daily dose of hip hop and endless Soundcloud DJ mixes, I tend to listen to tracks that either give me a boost of energy while working, take me back to a good party, or - at the moment - give me a warm summer feeling in this FREEZING cold. Here are a few: Pional - The Shy. Jamiroquai - Too young to die (Felkon remix). James Welsh - Craven. Darkside - Paper Trails (BBC mix), The XX - Basic Space (Jamie XX Space Bass mix) Have a closer look at the magazine here

interview-tourne-de-transmission

Meet Tourne de Transmission founder and creative force Graeme Gaughan. Why did you start Tourne de Transmission? The idea of TDT started at the end of 2011 with a few t-shirts. But it didn't really become a collection as such until AW13. I had been designing t-shirts for bands etc during the late 2000's and i wanted to find a new way of expressing certain creative ideas. But more from a art or photography influenced perspective. One thing lead to another and the label quickly snowballed into a seasonal capsule collection based around photography and contrasting messages each season. How would you describe TDT in one sentence? An overgrown art project. What inspired you while designing your SS14 collection? The main thing was reminiscing on my first teenage holidays with friends, the music we were listening to and the places we visited. Some of these places were pretty rowdy... It was as if the animals had been let out the cages, which made me reflect on the Blur track Boys & Girls. Which we were listening to a lot at the time. The streets really did feel like a jungle. I am sure its quite a standard teenage holiday experience now, but it was back when flights were just becoming cheep enough for us to afford to brake away from the parents for the first time and spread our wings. It was or at least it felt pretty crazy... people jumping from balcony to balcony on the 10th floor... fights in lifts, foam parties etc... it was pretty horrible on reflection but a good source of inspiration. Best advise you ever got? Follow your gut, make the choices that feel are right straight away and dont fuck about ...and its better to regret something than being pissed of for not trying something. Top 4 songs at the moment? 1. Alghalem - Tarakaft: Our AW14 collection is quite heavily influenced by their music, look and style. 2. Joan of Arc - Arcade Fire: Love the new album... seems to be on repeat in the studio. 2. NIB - Black Sabbath: Awesome track, Awesome band. Every now and then i have a Sabbath moment. And their from Birmingham near where i grew up. 3. Last Stand - Kwabs: Dont know to much about this guy but his voice and the track are amazing. 4. Open Eye Signal - Jon Hopkins: This track has one of the best videos i have seen in a long time. It kinda draws you in on a journey with a skater who pushes his way across america in one go... Then randomly enough i ended up sitting next to the director Aoife McArdle at a dinner. So it was great to hear how it was shot. She is super talented ...

pre-spring-2014-givenchy

Pre Spring 2014 Givenchy

The spring pre-collection strengthens Givenchy’s signature male wardrobe. It is infused with a latin influence for latin men are not afraid of mixing prints seemingly at odds or layering contrasting pieces making such looks cool and stylish. The silhouette exhales relaxed sportswear and sensual tailoring creating a newfound elegance. “favelas 74” sums up riccardo tisci’s obsession of the latin world. It is another expression of streetwear and urban culture. This season he revisits natural elegance and gender blending. Vivid combinations of prints from flowers and camouflage prints to roses and checks offer a new take on the feminine and the masculine. They create joyful patchworks where bright, dark and faded versions interact with each other. Placed prints and intricate cuts reveal graphic compositions.
